A Note From The Editor
If you live in the Tri-State area then no doubt you have heard these words: " What are we going to do today... There's nothing to do around here." or a similar phrase. If you are passing through... you probably don't see much about what's in the area, or off of the main highways. However, on any given day, there are tons of events going on in this area. There are also lots of unique businesses that provide entertainment or are associated with your hobbies. Why, then, does this area seem so boring??? Well... one reason is that people in Ohio may not know of cool things going on in Kentucky less than 30 minutes away... or people in Kentucky may not know of things in West Virginia, or people in West Virginia may not know of things in Ohio. As a whole, the Tri-State is rich in things to do... from horseback riding to skydiving, from community rummage sales to Regattas. The Fun Guide hopes to help with this problem, and spark some much needed optimism into the area. This is our first issue, so we had little sent to us for events. Likewise, it is very hard to get businesses to risk spending advertisement money out for something that's never been printed. In the future look for our event list to be much larger, and accessible on the internet. We hope to have more community involvement, more articles, etc. If you know of events going on or wish to contribute an article or something... please send it in... this is YOUR book. Also, in the future, look for many unique business to be listed. Some of the brave souls who advertised with us aren't even in the phone books! Make sure to pay them a visit and use some of our coupons.
Thanks,
Ray Baldwin
About the Cover: My Niece, Stephanie Baldwin was enjoying a day at the pool and I was playing with an underwater camera. She really looked like she was having fun! If you have a nice picture of people involved in seasonal activities and want to see it on the front cover... send it in! You may have some bragging rights like Steph. You can send them to the address or E-mail on the previous page with a description & your name and where you live. Contributions become property of the Fun Guide.
Seasonal Event List
This Event List is an open forum for many kinds of event, from Fairs to Rummage Sales from Motorcycle Runs to Motocross. How to use it... well... if you are moping around bored and are trying to find something to do in this area, check out the date... odds are there is something to do. If not, perhaps you could check out our advertisers... most have coupons in this issue... use them & you may win something!
The List is compiled in the following format:
Date, Name of Event, Location, Times, Admission Cost, Brief Description, Contact for Info, Contact for Exhibitor info, Handicap Accessibility, E-Mail or Website Address. Commas are used as placeholders by our database. "TBA" Means "To Be Announced." Since this is presented as a community service for free, we accept no responsibility for misspellings, incorrectly sent in information, etc. Fun Guide reserves the right to omit or edit any entry sent in. If you or your organization wishes to have your event published for free, send them to:
Events C/O the Fun Guide PO Box 3049 Huntington, WV 25702 or
E-Mail us at [email protected]
Fax: (603) 849-7858 or Voice Mail us at (304) 525-3700
Please Try to keep our format in mind and fill out as much information as possible. If your
event is not on our list , its probably because it was not sent in on time. Fall events should be
in before the second week of August. Thanks... and enjoy!

May the FUN be with you...
With All of the Star Wars Hype this Summer we couldn't resist printing this list contributed by Charlie Carroll of Huntington, WV. If you wish to send in jokes, articles, photos, etc you may send them to:

You might be a Redneck JEDI if.....
You ever heard the phrase, "May the force be with y'all."
Your Jedi robe is camouflage.
You have ever used your light saber to open a bottle of Bud Light.
At least one wing of your X-Wings is primer colored.
You can easily describe the taste of an Ewok.
You have ever had a land-speeder up on blocks in your yard.
The worst part of spending time on Dagobah is the dadgum skeeters.
Wookies are offended by your B.O.
You have ever used the force to get yourself another beer so you didn't have to wait for a commercial.
You have ever used the force in conjunction with fishing/bowling.
Your father has ever said to you, "Shoot, son come on over to the dark side...it'll be a hoot."
You have ever had your R-2 unit use its self-defense electro-shock thingy to get the barbecue grill to light.
You have a confederate flag painted on the hood of your land-speeder.
You ever fantasized about Princess Leah wearing Daisy Duke shorts.
You have the doors of your X-wing welded shut and you have to get in through the window.
Although you had to kill him, you kinda thought that Jabba the Hutt had a pretty good handle on how to treat his women.
You have a cousin who bears a strong resemblance to Chewbacca.
You suggested that they outfit the Millennium Falcon with a redwood deck.

More Fun To Come!
There are a few new business that we have stumbled upon opening in this area in the future.
A new Comedy Club Called "The Laugh Shack" is set to open in September if all goes well.
You can call 1-888-781-0655 for more details. Also, some log cabins are being moved to
Greasy Ridge, OH and may be opening to the public as exhibits on "old-time living." More
details in later issues. Also, in this issue, there is an ad for a brand-new 18 hole miniature golf
course at The Golf Range in Chesaapeake, OH. Make sure and check it out... it is much like
the ones found at Myrtle Beach and other big tourist areas. Lake DJ in South Point, OH is
also new and a very nice place to have a get-together or spend some time fishing or camping.
Tri-Comp Computers is a great place for computer hobbists (We all love hanging out there
ourselves!) They even have a FREE Y2K Upgrade coupon with us. Don't let the year 2000
catch you off guard! There are several other really nice businesses where you can spend some
time on our back cover. We even drew you a map to them! Don't forget to tell all these great
businesses that you heard about them in the Fun Guide!
